Each spring, the Backcountry Gear Guide brings together hundreds of tested products, detailed specs, and editorial insights into a single high-impact consumer resource. My job is to turn that information into visual systems and layouts that help readers understand products quickly, compare options, and connect with the brands behind them.
I work closely with editors, marketing teams, and external partners to build design frameworks that balance clarity, consistency, and visual energy. Every edition means new typographic systems, refined color strategies, and a fresh identity — while maintaining continuity across a publication readers return to year after year.
Seventeen years in, this is still the project that sharpens everything. It demands the same discipline as any integrated campaign environment: multiple stakeholders, high production standards, and clear visual communication at scale — delivered on time, every time.
